Water leaking from engine on 2005 tahoe Q4

I'm looking at a 2005 Q4 and the guy says he didn't winterize it last winter and now its leaking water from the engine. He said he was told it was leaking around the water manifold. Would this be something major that will have to be fixed or is it something I could do myself? He is asking $7500 for it as is. Says it has less than 50 hours on it.

not winterized and leaking could mean the block and manifolds have cracked. will it run and is the engine oil contaminated. A new plug and play can run up to $6000

He says it runs but just leaks around the water manifold. I don't know anything about how these boats operate. I need some advice. I'm very mechnically inclined but on autos...not boats.

Ayuh,... $7500. seems pretty Steep, when ya gotta drop in a $6000. New Motor....

A Frozen, unwinterized motor, you can count on replacing the motor, period...

Engine block cracked,Exhaust manifolds cracked...could be both or either.
Only way i would buy it is if the seller took about 5k off the asking price.
Best bet is keep looking....too many good boats out there for that price range.

Aslo he he neglected to winterize so it i bet all the other service needs have been passed by too...add another grand or so..

Dont buy it.. All it takes is 1 time not winterizing and that engine is toast, not to mention a few other things(powersteering cooler) (waterpump) (manifolds) guarenteed they are all cracked.. Big $$$ .

walk away.if your not experienced and its your first boat big expense is just around the corner especially if paying someone else for the labour.

I'd find out what fair market value of that boat is and then subtract the price of a new engine and outdrive (complete assembly) including labor and that be my offer if the boat looks good.
