Water leak

I recently work on a friends boat is has a omc cobra out-drive it is a 1990 with a 4.3 Ho motor it was making a really loud knocking noise we found that the engine coupler was worn out and the gimble bearing was pretty much gone it came out in two pieces well that's all i could find of it i put a new coupler new bearing and seals everything is working good except there is water leaking inside the boat directly under the exhaust tube come to find out the boat was ran for three days with the coupler and bearing gone not sure were to start on this.

Water from the rear is usually from the bellows.
Take the drive off and see if it's sealed?
You use the right glue?
If the U-joints were slopping around, then maybe the bellows was ripped?

When it's apart? You see anything bad?
Take a bunch of pics.
There might be some damage to the mating surfaces.
Or the bellows didn't seal.
Possible,it cracked the housing??

When you reinstalled it.
Did you use an alignment tool.
Bad alignment is usually why the couplers go bad.

Did you coat both sides of the drive gasket with gasket sealing compound?
