Hello, I have a 1987 Force 125 (1258V7B) w/20" shaft that I got from a friends dad. He took VERY good care of this motor with no flaws visually or mechanically. Fresh Water only so zero corrosion, 140# compression across the board, carbs immaculate, inside and outside paint still flawless!! Amazed at a 19 year olf motor this good, shows what TLC can do! I am in the process of reviving her after being asleep for a year. So far I have everything checked off the list that you have as a good starting point for acquiring sleeping motors.

I seem to have a small pin hole in the rubber boot that comes from the bottom of the powerhead to the pee hole. I have looked at the online manual at Seloc Online to try and find out about this peice with no luck. I also have searched this forum and I cannot find out the name of this part and if it can be easily fixed. I am just worried that over time of running on the water this WILL fill up inside.

Should this/Can this be replaced? Or would sealing up the hole with a rubber eopxy fix the problem?

sounds like a nice motor.
it is a cheap part that can be replaced. they call it an idle exhaust boot. if you look in very bottom, you'll see that there are a pair of drain holes. the ability to handle some leakage was engineered into the engine. However, your motor will have less corrosion if you keep a watertight seal on the boot.

mercury part# 895012
Force part# F85130

the only difficult part is getting a tool that can grab the spring clamp. worst case scenario is taking off the back motor leg cover. there's half dozen bolts inside the engine compartment that hold the top of rear cover to the bottom pan of engine cowling. there's another six bolts that hold it to front half of leg cover. it is an independant assembly. taking it off does not affect any other part.

but - you may be able to get the spring clamp off and wedge a new one in without taking the cover off. maybe. maybe not. kind of depends on whether or not it's your lucky day.
