Whats up guys... Got a 59 18 hp johnson that's getting water in the LU. I had to order a water tube when putting motor together, And when it came it had a small hole in it made with a drill bit. I was thinking this was odd but figured since it was a new part from marinengines that it must be ok. Now that i'm getting water in LU . I'm wandering if there is supposed to be a small hole in the water tube.

Re: Water in the LU

From previous posts; yes, the hole is supposed to be there for cooling purposes. Water in the gearcase is from seals or seals at the drain and vent screws.

Re: Water in the LU

Thanks WB... In the mallory LU seal kit the the drain and vent seals where hard plastic and they did not want to go in the holes well at all. I had not thought about that being a place for water to get in and out ,But now that you mentioned it. I remembered that being the case, and it's vary likely that could be where my water is coming from. Definitely the easiest place to start....Thanks
