Water in power steering pump

I have 1989 5.0l cobra, am getting water in P/S pump and forcing out all fluid, what is the problem the pump or cooler? just bought boat and don't know much about it. Thanks

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... Odds are the P/S Cooler wasn't drained for the winter, it Froze, 'n Split,...

'n, Yes, ya need it,....

Second the power steering cooler. a radiator shop may be able to repair it but a new one would for sure be my first choice.

thank you for your quick reply, i removed cooler did not see any external damage, does it crack internally? thanks

Ayuh,... Put 'bout 15 psi of air into the oil side, 'n stick it in a bucket of water,....

They're like a small radiator.
Not winterized right or used a lot in salt water they can spring a leak.

they are generally a 2" shell and tube heat exchanger. not much money to get a new one.
