I have a Volvo Panta SX outdrive on a 1996 Four Winns. When I drained the outdrive oil it was milky. I have pressurized the outdrive to about 10 psi and I can hear a hissing from behind the propeler. Can these seals be replaced without completly dismantling the lower end? I have a after market tech manual and it does not have any instructions on rebuilding the lower end. Is this sonething I can do myself or will dismantling the lower end require me to reset the backlash on the propler shaft? Not sure I am up to that.....

Thanks for any help...

Get the OEM manual before you even think about trying to take it apart. Your local dealer can get you one, or here is one place online for them.

A parts breakdown will NOT explain how to take it apart without having to do a LOT of extra work.

How can I tell what model of SX outdrive I have? The engine is the V8 5.0 FI, I belive 220 Hp on a 1996 Four Winns 200. There were several tech manuals listed but I was not sure which one to order. Thanks for any help....

What is the full model number of your engine. There should be some letters after the 5.0FI, need to know those letters.
