Hello all,

New problem here.

replaced the head on my merc 140hp was agjusting the rocker arms( by cranking the motor) water started to squirt out of the pushrod!! its my thought that when I found the head was leaking and replaced it the head was leaking water into the block. Can this be flushed out with out ruining the motor?have not fired it yet so i am good there. any sugestions! Thanks Brian-ASI

Re: Water In Oil!!! Help....

did you change/drain the oil? if not then do so possably several times w/cheap filters. when I did this, prior to installing the filter, I'd crank, not start, the engine over and collect the mixed fluid that is pumped OUT of the oil filter mount. this rids the mixed fluid, (water/oil), out of the oil pump and associated pick-up tube. then I ran this after each change, just to mix it all up again. On the forth oil change, in as many days, I ran it for about an hour with the breather caps off, any water would burn off and steam could escape. remember to pour as much oil into the new filter that it can hold before you spin it on. dispose of the old oil in a proper place, NOT along your fence line!..sl
