I have a 1981 OMC 120 hp i/o I winterized it for the first time this winter(should have paid someone) I started it for the first time after storage and the oil is full of water. What steps should I take to determine the problem? <br />The spark plugs looked dry. No water came out of exaust manifold drain plugs when I open them, water does come out of the block drain plug.IS there any easy way to determine where the problem is without tearing apart the motor?<br /><br />Thanks <br />Frank

IF the block wasn't propperly drained, you'll no doubt find a crack on the Inside of the portside, of the block....<br />Block replacement is the Only repair...<br />IF This Is So...... It's a good time to up-grade to a 140hp, 3.0l.....

I have the exaust manifold off and I am going to have it pressure tested at a friends machine shop. I drained the water out of the oil about 3/4 of a gallon. since then the level is at full on the stick and has not gone up. There is still water in the block if I open the drain plug and if I take the large hose off in the front. Is that a good sign or doesn't mean anything??If I take the head of do I need to have it machined or just check and change the gasket? Any advise is greatly appriciated

If you're going to the trouble of removing the head, I'd bring it over to your Machinist friend,+ have it thoughly Checked Out....<br />I hope you find the problem..... Because the Next place to look, Is the inside of the block, lower portside, Inside....<br />Good Luck...

We did a leak down test and everything looked good on the cyclinders. We also presure tested the block and it held at 18lbs for a 1/2 hour. There are a few cracks on the outside of the exahust manifold so I hope that is the problem.
