mercruiser 4 cylinder 84
After running for maybe 15 mins, quart of water in oil ? Can bad Manifold do this or do i have a more serious problem? and what test can i do to find the problem? I am ready to pull head and start there before pulling engine, but have little experience with marine engines.\
Please Advise Edmii@home.com

Could be several things. In order of possibilty and expense.

1. Exhaust elbow or gasket.
2. Exhaust manifold or gasket.
3. Head or gasket.
4. Cracked block.

I would start with the elbow and manifold. You can remove them and give them a good eyeball. You can also get them pressure checked at your local Mercruiser dealer.

The 140 was somewhat prone to the block cracking between # 1 and # 2.
