Water in Fuel?

Decided to transfer the remaining fuel in my Mako 17 fuel tank (not pre-mixed) to my truck to burn before it goes bad. So I siphoned it through the bulkhead mounted cannister fuel filter/water separator.

I figured I'd change out the filter, too and did so. Took the old filter and inverted it over a glass container and emptied about 1 cup of rusty water out. I presume there's probably more in the bottom of the tank below where the pickup tube can reach. Any recommendations of something I might add to soak up any water that might be there? We used to use acetone, but I don't think that's a good idea with all the plastic in the carbs these days. Engine's a 1990 Evinrude 120.

I beleive that rubbing alcohol will do the trick. Just dump some in there and slosh the boat around and pump it out again. You may want to do this a couple of times. Change your filter a few times soon after you run it again, to get the remaining gunk out until it's running clean. I'm sure the rust will return, but the filter will hopefully catch it.
