Have a 81 50hp Evinrude model E50BELCIC getting water in foot lube rebuilt the prop shaft seals couple of years back when not using motor much. At this time was having black liquid run out of prop exhaust when run and after. Since prop rebuild none of this and exhaust is white and leaves prop area clean no leaks. This year used more after few trips drained foot and lots of water. Motor runs good has good water flow. after replacing the foot lube ran motor on hose then opened top foot drain screw and grease came out and was yellow so water is getting in. What would you recommend doing now. Foot has not been removed that I know of at least not while I have owned
motor. Thanks for your help

Water can only get in via shift shaft seal, driveshaft seal and propshaft seal. First drop the gearcase and drain the gear oil. If you have a gearlube pump, take the hose and fitting and connect it to a bicycle pump and pump a couple of PSI into the gearcase. Use some soapy water on the shift shaft and driveshaft and see what bubbles.

I removed the foot this pm there was black slug like on top of water pump and over everything and all around the edges down in the open spaces it had a consistency like sand. I cleaned all this gunk off and going to pass the foot to a fellow who fixed another problem I had with this motor. Hopefully this will put motor in better condition. Maybe get to use it again this fall if not before.
Thank you fellows for your help.

Water can also get in the Drain and Vent Holes, which is why it is important to replace the gaskets any time the screws are loosened
