Water in engine oil

Recently I degreased my engine of the nasty film of lubricant that protected it over the winter. After washing everything down I noticed that the dipstick wasn't sealed around the hole in the engine block. I then checked the oil and found water in the oil. How can I remedy this problem? Will this be harmful to the engine?

I am guessing that this is a I/O. 1st off don't run the motor until you have changed the oil. If you didn't run the motor since you got the water in there it shouldn't have caused any real damage. I would also change the oil shortly after that to be sure there are not remnents of water anywhere.

Yeah, I have an I/O. I haven't bothered to turn it over yet cause i wasn't sure what to do. I am planning on changing the oil out as soon as possible. Should everything be fine afterwards?
