My oil fill resevoir was submerged in rain water and appears to have taken on water. The engine was running about 15 minutes before smoking and shutting down. This is a Yamaha 200 year 2000 with 150 hrs. Any recommendations and prognosis for the engines future?

Shekky,

Not good.

You can get your engines oiling system back in order annd try to run it. Clean and bleed the system thoroughly. Run it on a pre-mix of 50:1 until you verify oil useage.

However, I do not think the prospects are good, by your description of events.

You need to get the carbs cleaned out and get that engine running on pre-mix ASAP. The longer moisture stays inside that engine, the more likely damage will occur. Worry about the oiling system later. Get that engine running.
