This only happened once.
The boat is a 2000 with a 5.7GS Duo prop DP SM 3868913 drive.

I towed my granddaughter and her mom on a tube. This was her first time so we just idled it along at 1500 to 2000 max RPM. The boat was not on plane and I was pushing a lot of water.
What I didn't realize was my exhaust bellows on the drive unit was deteriorated and completely off .

We got back to the dock with no issues at all.

The next day I went to start it and was hydrolocked.
Pulled the plugs and had water in every cylinder.

I dried the plugs and the engine fired without hesitation. Idled fine and reved without hesitation.
Let it sit for an hour or so and restarted with no issues. Did this a couple times and then let it sit overnight.
Again no issues.
Trailered it home the next day and replaced the bellows and checked the drive. All looks good.

Restarted it on the trailer with the muffs and again it fired with no issues.

Was this just a one time thing because i was pushing so much water? or do I have a problem waiting to surface again.

Re: Water in cylinders

Did you check to see if any water got into the crankcase?
