2002 Yamaha xl700.... was flushing the engine with hose adapter. Turned off engine but forgot water hose for a few minutes... engine wouldn't crank over, pulled the plugs and both cylinders were full of water.... is this normal or does it have a blown head gasket....

Re: water in cylinder

You really need to get her started and run her for a good half hour to get heat into the motor and burn out any moisture left. Take the plugs out and spin the motor with the starter and you will see the water shoot out of the spark plug holes. Do not let it sit with water in the engine as the bearings will start to rust. The water got into the engine because of the lack of exhaust pressure from a running engine. This condition you have is one of worst to have, you must get it started and build up heat to dry her out.
