Water in bottom cylinder only. Changed head gasket: Head was O.K.. Still getting lots of water when engine is run. Compression check: 120, 120, 120-- and the bottom cylinder held pressure without bleed-down. Found pieces of snubber ring from a seal laying in the water jacket (may be unrelated), though gearcase lube was not contaminated with water. My question is this: Since this water apparently is sourcing from the crankase via 1) a leaky crankshaft seal, or 2) a leaky exhaust plate, is it worth it to have the power head removed to correct either of those problems? After all, water has been laying inside the crankcase, probably rusting bearings and piston sleeves. Would it be best at this point to replace the engine, replace the
entire powerhead, or have the powerhead overhauled? The engine is a 1994.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
