Hi guys. I recently inherited my fathers 1967 16ft fiberglass boat. I notice when I go out for a full day on the water when I pull the plug about a gallon to 2 gallon of water comes out. Part of the drain plug tube is cracked so I’m going to replace. I also noticed wood also comes out with the water also. My question is. Is the reason why there’s water and wood coming out when I pull the plug from a weak transom? Is the wood from Waterlogged plywood? The transom seems solid. We’ve had the boat on our family for 20 years and never had trouble. Sorry for the long post and thanks for the help

Welcome aboard,
Boats especially glass ones will rot from the bottom up. I would imagine there's some rot going on below deck in the plywood stringers.

What exactly is a plywood stringer? Sorry I’m new to the boating world

Go to the hull restoration forum, look at sticky #4. Read links 14, 15, 18, 2, 3, 4a, and 4 in that order. You will get a good understanding
