I know a photo would help with this one but here it goes. I have two stringers on both side of the block. If water gets on the outside of the stringer there is no way to drain it. I guess I just have to go in to the engine compartment and soak it up with paper towels?

A photo definitly would help. There should be tubes running through the bottoms of the stringers so that they can drain to the rear.

I think the lack of tube is another Bayliner "value Feature"

Don't know, mine has tubes under all the stringers. I'd like to see a picture, but it would be worth a call to Bayliner customer support to see what they say.

Every manufacture does it different. Some have draining systems and some don't. How would water actually get to the area you describe? I think for most part, the amount that gets to the outside area is very small unless there is a problem/leak. I bet it could be retrofitted with some drain tubes if you really want to address it, but it may not be worth it if it only happens once in a while.

Re: Water in bilge.

I had the same issue and mine already had drains. The drains were clogged up. I drilled them out larger using a dremel and epoxied the holes, then installed 3/4 inch pvc pipe with 5200. Very easy to stick the hose down there now and spray them out if they do happen to get clogged. Just be careful is you decide to drill in drains, as the drains will need to be right next to the bottom of the hull. The cleaner the hole, the better drainage you will have that's why I installed pvc inserts. Good luck.

That's very important. Don't take any chance whatsoever of allowing water to meet wood.

Judging by a couple of other peoples' experience I bet Bayliner would tell you that it's perfectly normal to not give water a path to the bilge.

bayliners typical response: water goes UNDER the boat not inside the boat.
