This bit is an interesting finding.

Drained all the oil, milky and some water. Tilted the drive up, down to get the last bit out.

Dropped the lower unit, drain plug was out and more oil drained when laid on its side. Moved it around while dismantling the shift shaft bushing and waterpump and base.

With water pump base out and when drive was inverted, driveshaft pointing down, water came out through the driveshaft bearing cavity??? Thought there would be nothing left in there.

That being the case, means:
1. If drive is water filled, the water pump base should be removed and drive inverted to clear any collected water as draining is not enough.

Comments/experience?
