Took the boat out for the second time this year. 1/4 mile into the trip the engine heat alarm went on and lost rpms. Shut it down and tried to think of what the problem was. Took it to a mechanic and discovered all but the #7cylinder had varying amounts of water in them. 2,4,6 & 8 seemed to have a little more 1,3 & 5. The only other thing was the boat was way out of trim when we first started to get on plane, with the starboard side low. Hit the trim tabs and it started to level out, then the alarm. Any suggestions of the cause and more importantly the correction?

Thanks

Thanks for a reply.

We will be checking all the above; with that said, isn't it a little odd for both manifolds, risers or head gaskets to go on at the same time?

additional Information:

There isn't of water in the oil. Ran fine on hose before, with water comming out of lower unit exhaust and slightly out of water intake.

I doubt that the manifolds and risers would cause the problem. With the engine running, the exhaust would blow any water out of the exhaust system.
Did the engine diesel when you shut it off? That would suck water back into the engine from the exhaust. Or did you shut it off immediatly after coming off plane and the wave hit the back of the boat with the engine off.
I think your overheat was NOT caused by water in the cylinders, but water got in the cylinder after you shut it off.

Thanks for reply.

We came off plane slowly and then killed the engine. There wasn't any . We let it sit a few dieseling. We waited a few minuites and tried to crank it, I believe it tried to turn over and that is probably when the cylinders filled. When we tried to crank it again it was locked up due to the water in the cylinders.

We are thinking all of this may have started with a bad impeller, still tearing down engine.

still tearing down engine.

WHY?????
Get the water out of the cylinders and dry the plugs and get it started ASAP as in NOW. Then figure out why you had to overheat.
