Oil on dipstick is now 3/4" high on the stick but not milky.

Last time I ran it the engine did deisel badly at the end of the run.
Boat was beached and big waves could've hit the back of the boat, again...

What is the quickest and easiest way to see what I have here. Thinking oil change and see what happens.

Thank you guys I really appreciate this forum.

Did you by any chance try to start it again right after it dieseled? If so, what happened? Did it start?

As I recall... it was hard to start with three or four tries and maybe a small backfire before it conked out or somewhere along the line. Not super clear as it was well after midnight when I did it...

It did start and run the next day when I went to pull it. I ran it for 5 or 10 minutes before pulling it that last day.

Yes Bond-o -Oil change it is! What are the odds...

Thanks

Water in 2 cylinders, mechanic says milky oil came out. 5 quarts total

I am wondering if it was that last backfire as that is when the oil level changed and began to run a bit rougher.

Compression test confirmed two cylinders were high...

Few questions:

1. I told the guy to keep the cost down and to do an oil change and compression test. How long should that take?

2. Should I bother looking to find out what is wrong with this block or would you reccomend I move on to a new block in the spring if I can somehow afford one then?

3. When a backfire causes damage what are the chances it blows a head gasket?

4. If I were to do the work myself would you reccomend rebuilding this block seeing as I am not positive how long water was in the motor?
Could have been a week or a month, fresh water... Block has about 50 hours on it. Not under warrantee b/c I did not send in the warranrtee card
and not sure if overheated etc and no sure where the tabs are to check...

I really appreciate your help on this mess. Thank you
