Water impeller

Can some one please tell me how hard is it to replace the water pump.on a 40 hp merc ser#555407 can it be done by someone with no exp.

Its easy..<br /><br />Five bolts and nuts on most and drop the lower unit. Put it in foward gear first. Remove the screws on the housing and replace impeller and wear plates.. Just buy the kit to replace it all and not just the impeller.
