Water hole??

I have a 1988 Merc 185hp 4.3 with an Alpha outdrive. I just replaced all the bellows, shift cable and water pump and housing. My question is should water be streaming out of the small hole in the forward bottom starboard side of the lower unit. Looks like just a drain hole, ( Pee hole). I ask this question, b/c I never saw water come out of it before, when hooked up to a hose and muffs. I used to keep this boat in a muddy bay, and I cleaned some zebra mussels from the inside of the passageway that this hole is in, so perhaps it has always been clogged. Water delivery to the engine seems fine. Either way, before I put the boat in the Lake,... " Is it normal that water streams from this hole???"

Thanks.
Mike
on
Lake Ontario

Re: Water hole??

If you are on the muffs, the water supply is more than you are using and excess water will stream out of the hole, like Tommays said, it is just a drain hole. if you are in the lake then the hole is under water, may still have some water coming out but you can't tell..
