Hello fellow boaters,

in desperate need of guidance over here. i have a 14' Seamax Ocean Turbo inflatable, with brand new Merc 25HP Sea Pro, all runs really well, up to 3/4 throttle, when i gun her to full throttle, i have water entering the boat between the 2 motor mounts, just over the transom, and im not talking a bit of water, im talking Niagara Falls water entering the boat! ive double checked and the cavitation plate is pretty much dead on with under side of boat, ive tried diffrent trim positions, same results, and less speed, so pretty sure im trimed right! Any thoughts?

thanks

25 sounds too big for a 14' inflatable--what's your plate rating?
Or too much weight in the stern?

my plate rating says max 30 HP, and last year i was running a 4 stroke 15 HP which weighted 104 LBS and my 25 HP 2 stroke weights 114 LBS! and my max motor weight is 220 LBS!

How is the weight distributed inside the boat? It is a light inflatable and if most of the weight is in the back the boat will never truly plane, as a matter of fact the faster you go the more the bow will rise.

Make the Wife ride up front. I don't know how big you are but I guess you have to be in the far back on one them. Weight distribution I'm thinking. As Zagger stated.

And make sure you are trimmed all the way down.

yes this happens when on plane, the boat actually planes right away, and i was alone at the time, and sitting all the way back, with a full tank of gas, also at the rear most position in the boat, this hasnt happened with the wife sitting in front! so like zagger and Lakemeadan said, probably weight distribution problem!

thanks to all for your input
