Water egress in Powerhead cover

Finally, worked out that water has been egressing my 20HP 1997 Johnson through the seal on the lower engine cover. To replace this seal I would have to remove the powerhead.

To save a great deal of work would an aplication of sealastic do the trick?

Well worth a try IMHO. Use a good quality marine RTV silicone but thoroughly degrease and clean the area to be sealed.

An adhesive polyurethane sealant might stick better than silicone. Eg Sikaflex 291 or a similar product.
