I am looking at a 1993 Johnson 100 HP. The water pump hose has a T in it, one side discharges out the pee hole but the other discharges behind the engine, under the power head, like it is cooling the gear column? Seems weird to me but it looks factory. Is this correct? Thanks

The other side of that "T" would lead to a water pressure gauge on most models.... on a 93 model?

There is a T on that engine, itl just split the flow so that you dont have a telltale thats waterblasting as much

The outlet of the telltail is probably obstructed. The extra hose is likely for a under cowl vent. Water flow draws in fumes through this hose and drags them outside. If the telltail is plugged, water may flow backwards through the vent hose....

No, the "telltail" pee stream is there and strong. I just don't know why it would pump water inside the cowling

Does your boat have a water pressure guage, does it work?

clean the tee thoroughly. Be sure the water supply line is the one going to the side of the tee. Be sure the tee isn't installed upside down. Look in your parts breakdown under crankcase and you will see how it should sit.

The T does not need cleaning. The water supply line is going to the T, water is flowing out the pee hole and through the short rubber hose too. I don't have any parts breakdown. I think I could just plug it up to prevent water discharge under the cowling. Perhaps it did go to a water temp gauge in a prior life? This boat was repowered. My real question is still, should there EVER be water discharging inside the cowling? I think it should ALL flow out the pee hole!

That's what I thought. It's a repowered Boston Whaler hull, and the warts are showing....got to beware when buying on older vessel!
