Way back in the end of September, we had a water leak from the water supply line to the ice maker. Being a good homeowner I tried to repair and control the damage myself. That was futile. We had to call our insurance company.

They sent out "professionals" to dry up the water ,rip out some vinyl flooring and drywall and generally screw things up. The water also damaged the carpet in the living room.

To make the story short, I now finally have new carpet and vinyl just in time for Christmas.
The "while we're at it" syndrome hit my wife hard so we also put new vinyl in the downstairs laundry room/full bath. To save money on that, I agreed to remove the sink cabinet, commode, washer and dryer and to replace same after the vinyl was laid down. I also took on the task of installing new base molding where all the vinyl was placed in the kitchen, hallway, and bath. In addition, I removed the fridge, stove, and dish washer from the kitchen and removed all furniture from the dining room.
I also removed all the furniture from the living room. At last count we had 2 couches and 2 other hide-a-bed couches, 2 recliners, 2 buffetts, 2 fish tanks, and assorted other "stuff" in our living room. Yes, it's a huge living room.

Last night my son and I were going to replace the furniture in the living room. I was so weak, I couldn't lift the first hide-a-bed couch the two steps from the garage into the house. I'm exhausted!!!
A co-worker volunteered to help me and I think I'll give him a call today so he and his roommate can do the grunt work of moving the couches back into the house. I figured I'd give them each $25.00 for 30 minutes work because right now, I've got more money than strength!! :%:%

Don't feel bad. Hide-a-beds ain't light. My Mom had one that nearly required an overhead crane to move.

Glad you are getting it back together. I had a water damage incident years ago when they estimated over 200 gallons flooded from the 2nd floor bath down into the rest of the house. The "pro's" that were sent in did more damage then expected.

I understand how you feel.

Happy holidays,
Bob

You wouldn't beleive what the "professional" first respose people charged just to set up 3 fans and a dehumidifier. So no contest on this cost!!!!
Just that alone was $1238.79 and these were the people the insurance company sent. What a rip off:|:|
