Anyone familiar with water contamination in the fuel system of a Honda 225HP due to potentially entering via the exhaust system? Grapevine says that this has been a chronic problem with Hondas. Need specifics.

This is a possiblity with any power package but because of the weight differential between two and four stroke outboards you will see this occuring sometimes. That's where your shopping for a shop that knows how to rig these units pays off.Did this shop water test this unit for you and verify an acceptable water level at the engine while static,or launching or even just running?Exhaust entry will not contaminate fuel but it will oil.A little water in your oil change interval is very normal.Keep in mind where it operates.

It should not be possible for water to enter the fuel system from the exhaust. If water enters through the exhaust it will end up in the crankcase oil. Where are you finding the water and how much is present?

Bruce
