Just bought a second hand mariner 60 HP 2 stroke. Starts first time and runs well. Noticed water leaking from a breather hole in what I think is the Thermostat Housing situated top right starboard side of engine. Age of engine is around the mid 1990. Wondering if this is the thermostat or is there a non return valve situated in this housing? Would continuous flushing of the engine cure the fault?

Merged your topics, whitebeard.

Is the water from port or starboard?

If water is leaking from the vent hole than the poppit valve diaphragm has a leak.--It must be repaired ----Serial # of engine is ?

Thanks for your note. It is top right Port side.

Again thanks for your response. You confirmed what I was thinking after some more research about a leaking diaphragm.
