Washing interior with boat in slip/water?

Hey, all. I've been trailering my boat to/from the local lakes which meant I could wash it at home while it was on the trailer and let the water drain out of the bilge drain. This year we decided to splurge and rented a slip at a local marina. One thing I wasn't expecting is how quickly and how dirty the boat interior would get, even with a snap on cover on it and the slip being a covered slip. Bugs, dirt, dust...bug feces...

Anyway, we've got water and power hook ups at the slip and I was wondering if it was safe to go ahead and wash the interior and spray it down with a hose and let the bilge pump pump the water out? I did test the bilge pump before taking it down and leaving it in the slip by putting the plug in the transom and filling the bilge with water and it had no issues removing it all. Follow up question, what type of soap can I use to do this(if the consensus is that it is OK to do it, in the first place) that works and is environmentally safe to dump into the lake.

Don't know what boat/motor. Assuming I/O

Should be no reason not to hose the boat down, so long as the water doesn't get high enough to reach the starter

the local marina sells boat wash soap. Should be fine to wash it in the slip.

From what I'm reading, it seems that any biodegradable soap can be used. Think I'll just give it a go next time and do my best not to sink my boat.

Dawn dish soap works for what alldodge say's, but from my understanding, it encapsulates the oil and it sinks to the bottom. Just use boatwash, enviromentally safe soap.

All detergents work like that (except that the oil will go to the top when the soap degrades).

If you like the wax you so painstakingly applied prior to putting the boat in the water don't use a "soap" with detergent in it.

My favorite.........been using it for years

Of course, using "soap" as a generic term here. Definitely wouldn't use something like Dawn that would also strip the wax.
