Warning Sensor Start Up Test

I just purchased a 2000 Proline CC with a 2001 Mercury 125hp O/I outboard.<br /><br />Does anyone know if when cranking the engine you should hear a brief test tone of the engine/oil overheat alarm??? I thought when you first turned to the run position a brief tone was heard to let you know the alarm was working. I get nothing.

The beep is a self test of the oil module and should happen when you turn the key on

I would think if the module is hooked up it is not working
