I have a 1999 yamaha 130hp.This is a new motor for me,bought it from dealer used but very few hrs on it.Dealer did install. All was well till I used it last weekend.Saturday, started the engine the warning buzzer went off.Shut down motor, checked oil, fine.looked over everything that I could see, things looked fine.Restarted, buzzer still on.With the motor still on went to the back of the motor things looked fine(water coming out from p hole). From the time I had started it for the second time,it had run maybe 10-30 seconds maybe, then buzzer shut off.Motor ran fine the rest of day.Sunday the motor ran fine all day,no buzzer no problems
This saturday the same thing happened.Today motor was fine.Any help would be great as I start my holidays on the 1st and don't want to be sitting on the dock, want to be fishing for springs instead. Thanks

Re: warning buzzer

Hi,
One explantion could be, like for some Suzuki outboard, that when You start the engine there is not so much waterflow in the engine. IF there is a overheat sensor that is a "water level switch" (flow sensor) in your engine (note, I do not know if it is on your engine, but on some Suzuki outboard it is) it is normal for the buzzer alarm for overheat to be on for a short while after start. If you just let it warm up and then when You increase throttle and rpm increase there will be more waterflow (waterpump, impeller, will push more water into the engine for cooling) and the water level switch will close (=will sense "normal" flow) and turn off the alarm.
On newer Suzuki the water level switch was replased with a "heat sensing switch" but the purpuse is the same: overheat sensor.

When there is a alarm there is usually an indicator in an instrument that show what the alarm is about (overheat, oilflow/level, etc)
