Please bare with me as i am a total newbie to outboard motors. Started the motor up for the fist time this year on the muffs in the driveway. I noticed that after running for a couple minutes that the only warm water was coming out of inlet above the anti ventilation plate, but the water coming out of the pee hole and prop exhaust was cold. Is this normal? Motor is a mercury 115CT

It may be getting warmed up by the exhaust down there.

How do you find the 115 CT ? I have one on a deep v 19ft cuddy.
Having always been a 2 stroke and inboard fan and never a 4 stroke outboard fan...I hate to admit it, but I find mine an exceptional engine.
Incredibly powerful for its claimed power and able to run the serious propellers from Merc. I’ve a tempest plus 19” and am enertia 20” for mine.
the tempest plus managed 42 mph on a test and the enertia managed an incredible 44 mph gps. Jusy amazing for only 115 claimed HP.
so easy to service too.
big 2.1l displacement makes all the difference. Blown away with it really.
what boat do you have it on ?

Water coming out of the Pee-hole on a some engines hasn't been used for cooling. The water coming out of the Drains above the AV Plate, is water that has cooled the Engine and also surrounded the Exhaust Tube. The water coming out of the prop is cool as by the time it is dumped in, the exhaust has already been cooled down a lot at idle. When running under load, the water out of the prop will be much warmer, though unless the engine is running out of the water on a Dyno, you wouldn't witness it

Careful Q, you said the 'E' word, which is Despised by someone who is Hypnotized by an 'S' prop. Good thing you only said it Twice, not Three Times, as Micheal Keaton might have suddenly appeared

Haha. Do you not mean the character played by Jack Nicholson alongside,
in a film with Michael Keaton might appear ? 😂

Help the OP and stay on topic. He said he's a newbie, give him a break.

Thanks everybody, just want to make sure the motor was cooling correctly. I have grown up all my life around carburetor stern drives, so you can imagine my surprise when i went to start up the motor for the first time after sitting for 6 months that it started right up and that i didn't need to pump the gas or wait to see if the carb needed any adjustments to idle correctly.
