Engine fires up instantly when the engine is cold; however, when the engine is warm it has to crank 20 seconds or so before the engine will fire.

Any ideas? It seems like this started with the introduction of ethanol. Problem slowly getting worse.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Warm start=slow turnover Volvo 5.7 DPX

your subject line says slow turnover. Do you mean the engine turns over slower, as in the starter turns the engine slower? thats what my initial impression was. The only reason im replying is i had that issue all last summer. vovlo 225 starter. delco but who cares. after much rewiring it never got better. this year when i had the motor out i replaced the starter. vovlo$ 400.00 orielys $44.00 plus core. :). I replaced in hopes of better starting. and you cant replace it without removing manifold and then you must have plastic man arms. anyway fixed my problem, the field coil in the starter must have been bad. i had the bad starter checked last year and it checked good. it wasn't. Starter for your engine cheap, headache when it fails in the lake...
