Wards SEak King (Clinton) 7.5 HP
Model K751
Type XTV 50575B
Motor runs strong.
Issue= During hign speed throttle the Choke will eventually close by itself. I cant tell if its because of vibration or vacuum that is closing the choke. The choke lever is not sloppy and takes some effort to operate manually(like it should). Has anyone seen this before ,
Thanks

Re: Wards sea King 7.5 Choke problem

It's probably vibration. Lord knows those Clintons vibrate to beat the band...at least my K500 does.

See if you can't find a way to add a spring to the choke lever on the carb. There may actually have been one at some point. I'm not sure about that model. The spring would hold the choke open, and that should do it.

It's probably the pivots on the choke that have worn, allowing it to get sucked closed by a combination of vibration and air flow. Should be an easy fix.

Your local hardware store will have a whole bunch of springs in a set of drawers you can pick through to find what you need.
