You should start with a service manual. You will need a harmonic balancer puller for the flywheel You'll find a cheap one at Harbor freight.Get at least 5 line bolts to go in the flywheel.Points set at .020 as close as possible identical.Plugs Champion L4J plugs set at .030.

i am trying to get a hold of a service manuel now thanks also my fly wheel has <looks like> 3/16 holes in the top of it < for bolts to hook puller onto i assume> but they look shallow and dont appear to be tapped do you know if these are the holes i use and would a hooked jaw puller work? thanks agaian this site and the people on it is so cool...

No hooked jaw puller.I can't speak for your Chrysler but every outboard I have ever pulled the flywheel had the tapped holes for a puller.Perhaps you will have to drill and tap the holes. When using the puller tighten it good and then whack the center bolt to pop the flywheel loose.Sometimes it takes a couple of cycles of tightening and whacking it.I usually leave the nut on loose to protect the threads.
My after market manual says nothing about flywheel removal.Does say the flywheel key coincides with the high point of the cam and can be used to line up the cam with the rub block of the points. Also flywheel and crank taper
must be clean and dry, manual start motors flywheel nut torqued to 600 in.lbs.

my fly wheel has some holes already but they are not drilled all the way throgh and are not tapped holes appear to be 3/16 and there is at least 4 <maybe more >of them. im probable going to tap these for the removel bolts will this size be enough and should i drill them out all the way through? im pretty sure the fly wheel has never been removed before . and what can i expect to find under it IE points condencer coil magneto, and wires or a lot of stuff that i will not know of lol. thanks steelespike..

My pictures of the flywheel indicates a rope sheeve for pull starting. It appears to have 3 dimples and comes off when the flywheel nut is removed.
The puller holes are underneath.

thanks now i can pull the flywheel and take a peek inside.. my outboard sputters when running as you increase the speed it sputters less but dosent go away the carb and throttle are adjusted so i know its an ignition problem looks like this thing has never had any thing done to it before so i want to take a look at the points and adjust if need be . t-y
