I have just finished restoring a 44 year old classic speedboat (see more on boat below) and need an alternative fast idle device for my 21 year old Johnson 40 hp two stroke. For fit reasons, my existing remote (with fast idle lever) was no good for me and I had to use a smaller Johnson remote without the fast idle lever. My question is: has anyone obtained or had made up such a thing. I have thought about a old fashioned pull out choke cable that can be locked in any position and pulling on the carb linkages. I also wondered if there was a electric solenoid type device which I could operate via a switch from the cockpit. Any ideas welcome. Peter
The boat itself (Alabtross Delta Nymph) was built during 1966-7 and is all aluminium 4 seater speedboat built by Albatross Marine who were prominent in the UK for building small fast boats from WW2 onwards. They are now long gone but I have one of the very few outboard versions which I am restoring now.
