Want to make those glow sticks last longer?

Last month my daughter received a box of the thin "break & shake" glow sticks as a gift. She played with them all evening and when I tucked her in, they were still glowing.

I got to thinking how the glow sticks were being wasted as she was sleeping and couldn't enjoy them. Began to think about how to make them last longer.

So after she fell asleep, I took the sticks and put them in the freezer thinking the cold would slow down the chemical reaction and they might last through the night.

The next day I pulled one out, and she ran to a closet and supprise! It was still glowing! Not super bright, but at least 50% of where it starts.

We put it back and forgot all about them until yesterday (a month or more later) while looking in the freezer I see them and pulled them out. Yep, as soon as they warmed up, they were glowing!

Just thought I'd share. Your kids might get a kick out of it. Or maybe make a science project out of it.

Yep, we've been using that for a while... in the absence of heat the chemical reaction suspends.
