 Hi guys its been a while since i've been here, hope everyone is well. I would like to add powertrim to my 2001 honda BF15A.I fish a river a lot & have to manually adjust/tilt my engine often due to the constant change of water depth.Does anyone make a power trim kit that i can install? My engine has electric start,so a power supply isn't a problem.Should i go with a honda power trim kit or is there an aftermarket kit that will work just as well?????? Times are tuff so i really don't want to spend a lot of money,so i guess the price will determine weather i do this project or not.All input from u guys will be greatly appreciated, thanks to all that reply.

Re: want to add power trim to BF15A-suggestions???

i have a Honda BF30A that i wanted to put T&T on. Honda didn't offer a T&T kit because what the dealer told me was that the T&T was built into the frame of the motor so you had to order the motor with T&T originally or use an aftermarket. i went with the CMC T&T and have been very happy with it. i have had it for 3 yrs and it works with no problems. it was easy to install and is easy to use. i didn't buy the model with the trim gauge and wish i would have but that's hind sight. it's biggest downside is the weight and setting the weight of the motor back 4in. i'm assuming that with a BF15A you are using it on a small boat. the extra weight and set back could be a problem. i have a 16ft Lund Rebel and it affected the way the boat sat in the water slightly. it's about a 500lb boat with a side console. i think if it was a tiller model with the added weight plus me sitting in the back it could have been a problem. if i had a small boat ithink i would find something about the same weight and set it on top of the motor when i was out on the water to see if the additional rear weight was going to be a problem.

15A did not come with power tilt as an option.Panther Marine makes a very nice bracket that might suit your needs.

hondon- didn't honda actually sell a "honda accessory" T&T unit that was made by panther for them for a couple of years. it was a panther unit that they just included in their catalog.

That may well be.If so,you have the answer to your question.I do'nt know what manual you are looking at but Honda can be very snotty about selling something that they do'nt make.Enlighten me if you can.

Re: want to add power trim to BF15A-suggestions???

hondon- all i remember is that i was looking for T&T for my 30hp about 4 yrs ago. i stopped at Crystal Pierz Marine in shakopee,mn and they showed it to me in a catalog they had at the parts counter. and if i remember right it was only for the 15hp and smaller. i think more designed for kicker motors. i remember later looking at a panther unit at cabela's that was cheaper than the unit in the honda catalog. cablea's also sold a panther unit specifically made for the 20-35hp johneyrudes at that time. (or maybe still do) the combination of my memory and 4 years should never be used in the same sentence.

That bracket is now sold to accomodate not only kickers, but primary engines as well.Installation can range from really simple to very challeging depending on the boat and the buy in is not cheap. All and all, they are hardy units, and I have seen no failures but I do'nt have a ton of them out there. If your budget wo'nt budge, this may not be the way to go.
