Recently, after and extensive boat rebuild, I finally got my boat finished and headed out for a trial run. No issues backing out of the ramp. There was a lott of traffic that day at the ramp so I backed her out pretty far before deciding to turn around....boy did I get a surprize. As I turned the wheel, the boat seems to be going the wrong way backwards. There
was a pretty strong current and wind so at first I thought wow, Better just put her in forward and turn around that way. I had issues with reverse stayin in gear at anything other than idle. TO my surprize, when I went to turn around, the boat headed straight back to wards the ramp....Yikes, I realised that I must have installed the two lines backwards on the help steering pump....right was left and vise versa.....long story short, all of my buddies on the boat got there good laugh! We went out anyway but it sure felt strange having to maintain a mental reminder to turn the opposite way that you wanted to go. Of course, as soon as we got back, I swapped them and rebled and problem fixed. Moral of the story....if you ever disconect your hydralic steering, pay attention to which one goes where...it does make a difference!
