Maybe they should take out a Craig's list add. Free boat. Can't afford slip fees NO POLITICS PLEASE!

Very interesting read, and ride: Alaska's $78-million 'ferry to nowhere' could land in L.A. - latimes.com

The Ice Strengthened, Twin Hulled Susitna

She has a "variable geometry hull". 12 ft. draft for high speed, and 4.5 foot draft for beach landings.
195 ft. and 4.5 ft draft!!! Wow!

this should be linked to the "year of the jet drive" thread since it's an 11,000 hp jet boat LOL

Once again, proof that a free boat isn't. Only on a mammoth scale. Hope some Gov. entity can take the offer, better than sitting unused.

Seems like there will be a match somewhere. It is a specialty item for sure, but there are situations where they need it. he LA one is an Island offshore as mentioned in the article. With that noted, I can't believe LA doesn't have some facility that it can load fire equipment onto a barge.
