So May 1st is the Vermont walleye opener.
I have been reading posts on blogs by captains -some charter, some "private" operators- who have had incidental catches of walleye on Champlain while fishing for landlocks. The reports seem to indicate "spawned out" fish.
Anyone here been fishing Champlain and have a sense of whether the walleyes are really "early" or if the spawn is still tailing off around mouths of Lamoille, Missisquoi, Winooski, Otter? I am wondering if it is worth fishing the rivers as usual or if they are mostly out in the lake already...
