OK, SO I WANT TO GO WALLEYE FISHING. FIRST OF ALL WHAT DOES ONE LOOK LIKE, AND WHAT "BAIT" DO YOU USE?<br /><br />I KNOW YOU STUDY FISHERMAN KNOW THIS<br />THANKS :confused:

What do they look like, Hmm…. A large perch but with a golden hue and golden eyes as far as baits I would think there are more Pickerel, Walleye, Sauger… taken on jigs then any other method. My favourite technique is to use a slip sinker just before a swivel and a 3-5 ft leader after that, with a floating or light jig head topped with a night crawler or rubber grub. Hold you bail open with your finger on the line drag the rig 6” above the bottom and when you feel a strike ( they are very soft) let your line go off you finger. Let out about 6 feet then take up the slack and set the hook.

we use erie dearies tipped with crawls in the spring drift fishing usually bouncing off bottom the switch to trolling in t he summer draggin mostly stingger spoons on down riggers and dipsies run a 5 to 6 ft leader off the dipsies and run the downriggers 400ft back depth depends on alot of things weather ect depth is usually set by letting out more line one the dipsies i just watch the fish finder and set it up like 3 to 5 ft above them walleyes can see above them like 20 ft but cant see even 2 ft below them better to be higher then to low and xenos is right they look like a large perch yellow and green in color a huge mouth with rows of teeth watch out the will bit by the way im fishin lake erie might be different fishin other lakes

jig and a minnow, casting crank baits around wing dams, there's a lot of ways to catch walleye.
