The Walmart Everstart batteries says 125 amp hours @1 amp, 845 cranking hours, and when I called Everstart they said it is 205 RC. My question is whether or not this is a good battery?

I am concerned about the amp hours being calculated at 1 amp and therefore being over exaggerated. However, the 205 RC's seem pretty good. What do you all think?

Thanks

The Walmart Everstart batteries says 125 amp hours @1 amp, 845 cranking hours...

Your data makes no sense. A battery could hardly crank for 845-hours if it can only deliver 1-Ampere for 125-hours.

The usual method for determining Ampere-hour is to use a 20-Ampere discharge rate.

One of my batteries is a box store marine battery (Energizer) 29, 125 ah, 850. Heavy as heck. But has been holding up well now for four years. If your using the battery for cranking make sure it's rated for cranking/starting. Some deep cycle batteries are for accessory use as in trolling motors or the one's used in RV's. These are used for long periods of low current draw. A starter motor draws quick bursts of large amps.

I use the wally world batts and they have been ok. Not the best in the world but I get about 3 years use out of them and for the price thats not bad. The biggest problem I have had with them is vibration but after I padded the box (rubber on the bottom) all is golden. I don't recomend them for trolling batts but for cranking and running the usual accesories they do the job well enough.

OP got mixed up. He means 125 amp hours I'm sure.
I've had good luck with Wally World batteries in general. They are commodity batteries that are about in the middle of the pack for performance (beats low end Interstate, for instance) and at the bottom of the pack for price.

A battery in a boat needs real tie down. I made stainless clamps that will hold a WW battery in a WW box firmly, with 8 or so stainless screws into the battery deck.

There are commercial battery clamps that are very effective also. The two plastic clips held down with #6 screws with a plastic strap through them are worthless.

You are correct. What I meant to say was that it says 125 amp hours @1 amp, 845 cranking amps.

The battery is to be used for trolling.

Reserve Capacity seems high, but perhaps that is a function of how the battery is built which may make for a lower discharge curve and more reserve capacity. Not sure on that.

I just bought 2 Deka Group 31 batteries at my local Napa Auto and they have 1190 CA, 950 CCA and 180 minutes reserve. They were $102 each and around here the Walmart Group 29 are 85-90 each.
