I just bought a mint 1969 Chrysler 45. I dont have the ID number here at work LOL but I am curious where the best source for 'wake up' parts might be. I am bidding on a SELOC manual on ebay, and I am sure that after 15yrs of heated storage I will need a new impeller and potentially other soft parts....all advice welcome.

I have 2 Chrysler 45's and 1 55 so keep in touch. PM if I don't notice you posts. I pulled my 1965 45 Hp out the other night, put it in a trash can of water, new tank of gas, squeezed the bulb, hit the choke and starter. Turned over like two and runs like a TOP.. Thats a good motor with proper maintenance..

The four bolt and three bolt water pumps are the same. The lower unit is what is different. You can use a four hole pump on a three hole lower unit. I recommend using a 47-F4333065-2 impeller instead of the one previously mentioned above. This is a quick silver part number and is availible from Mercury. The reason I recommend it is that is only has 6 vanes instead of 10 and because of it it will push more water then the 10 vane one plus I have had the 10 vane ones break on me more often the 6 vane ones.

If you are re awakening the motor you will want to rebuild the carb 18-7037 and the fuel pump 18-7806. Maybe a new primer bulb and fuel line. Then do the impeller and drain and replace the lower unit oil. If motor runs stay with just that. Make sure if you winterize that even if you only run it once that you redrain and refill the lower unit in the fall and not the spring.

Re: Waking up 69 Chrysler 45hp

The mercury site only goes back to 1974 and the part they call out for the pump is FS504060 where the newer pump for a 1984 is part number 46-803824T. Original chrysler part number was A144060. Both pumps I have on both of my gear housings have 4 holes but only use 3 bolts. If it were me I would try the FS504060 pump because it is older and the last four numbers in the part are the same.
