wakeboard bindings?

My friend just got a new set of liquid force bindings and they are hard as hell to get into.I am a size 11 and that is what they are supposed to fit.I have been using the old velcro three straps, feels like something they first used used to wakeboard in, but to tell you the truth, I like them. It seems like with the new bindings it slams me harder in the water do to them not coming off easy. I like not having to put them back on every time i fall but at the same time they put a lott of stress on my feet were the old ones i just come out of and have to put back on. My left foot is still trying to get back to the way it should be from the last time we went. I am comtemplating buying a new set of the old style. Does anybody feel the same or am I just supposed to get slammed into the water and not come out of the bindings?

Whatever you want as long as you don't take the middle road. Either they fly off as easlily as a skate with no bindings or they don't come off at all(I prefer the latter to the velcro and use lace ups only) If you lose one and not the other there's a good chance you could snap an ankle.

Over the years, we have learned that tighter bindings that dont come off are safer when you crash. The real dangerous situation is if one comes off and one stays on. Lots of torque on the extremity still in the bindings. I prefer them as tight as possible without cutting off circulation. As an orthopedic surgeon, I see quite a few wakeboarding injuries during the summer. Most are ACL or other similar knee injuries. The vast majority are on the extremity that stayed in the binding when the other leg came out.

Pat, most of the newer bindings can be customized (some more than others) to a rider's preference. Usually at the minimum there will be an adjustment for the overlays (adjustment usually made at the heel), and an adjustment for the forefoot (this one can take some time) that can relieve some pressure.
