How Serious of a skier are you?

There is a big difference between slalom course boats and wake boats

What is your budget?

Not to sure yet on how big of a skiier yet. I may not even do slalom. I more thinking it will be more fun to wake and surf and tube.

Also try to keep it under 25000

Well, for that budget, you can find any V-Drive and it will do what you want. If you ever think you may want to get serious about anything other than tubing, I would stay away from I/Os. Malibu, MB, Mastercraft, Ski Nautique, etc could all be had for $25K if you are looking at 2000 or so model boats.

If its purely recreational boarding, and you are not serious about any of it.... then there are literally 1000s of I/Os in you budget. If it were me, I would stick with a Sea Ray, Four Winns, Chaparel, Regal, or Bryant and absolutely would not even consider a Tahoe or Bayliner.

You have tons of I/O options as said before.
From what I have read, Moomba is one of the best bang for your buck VDrives.
You have a lot of options though with that budget. Get to trolling craigslist or tell me what city your in and I'll help. I enjoy lookin'.

And depending on where you boat I/O's can be very helpful. Where i live there are little things called sand bars and its really nice to be able to trim the outdrive up so you dont have to walk a mile to get to the shore, i onlt draw 18 inches of water with the drive up. I wakeboard and tube just fine behind my boat, its a little harder to keep a constant speed while towing conpared to a Vdrive but I re-proped to a 4 blade and droped the pitch and it helped that a lot. I personally bought a stingray because the local dealer had a some really good deals on some model year end boats and can't complain, but i like many other kinds of boats as long as they're not bayliners. For your budget you dont have to settle for less quality if you go the I/O route.

Though they're maybe not as well known as some of the other brands already mentioned, Checkmate makes some great boats. Historically they've been known more as a speed / ski boat, but I've seen some with wake towers on.

Just because it has a tower on it, doesnt make it a wake/watersports boat.

Checkmate uses performance hulls, which means they lift a lot out of the water.

You can mount a wake tower on a pontoon too, but... um well yea it doesn't make a wake to ride on.

Re: Wakeboadering boat plus

It all depends on how serious you want to get with the sport, if youre going to do 50/50 wakeboarding and just cruising then dont stress so much about getting the best wakebaording boat you can find. Find a nice boat that is a good price that has good features and a good amount of horsepower and put a rope on it and ride. Pretty much any boat (other then a pontoon or a skiff) can accomidate the casual rider. And you see wakeboard towers on pretty much every boat you see these days regardless of how stupid it looks or how infrequently they actually ride.
