The last few times I've been out on my boat the tachometer has been acting crazy, bouncing around and pegging at the max when at only half throttle. I've also been getting a low voltage warning on my fish finder. Yesterday just as I pulled up to the dock my engine beeped and turned off. The battery was nearly drained. It did not have enough charge to turn the engine over. The battery is about 2 months old, so I know it's fine. I've done some research and it appears that the voltage regulator could be the culprit. Does that sound right? Anything else I should check out?

This is a 4 stroke EFI Bigfoot 60. Thanks in advance.

Voltage regulator, rectifier, makes sense. However the AC voltage to them is supplied by the stator and that AC voltage is also the trigger to the tach. So, you might also want to get it running and make sure your getting good AC from the stator. Typically what your describing is just a rectifier/regulator replacement, but it could also be the stator charging coils. Getting a manual for the motor will tell you how to test everything properly if your a do it yourselfer.
