My VTS would not function so I took it apart, I connected the motor to a battery and the motor will spin. When you press up or down on the switch you can hear a click in the back of the hull in the VTS housing. since the motor and switch both seem to work would this mean the VTS Houseing needs to be replaced? is there any way to service it? The dealer wants $230 for the part :( Can it be dissisembled and serviced?

Does anyone know what size the plastic nut on the back of the hull is to remove the houseing? all I know is that it is HUGE so i will have to buy a socket before i can inspect it.

the relay switches are not working for some reason, I can't help you with the vts other than to suggest you buy a service manual and read it to see what you need to do to access the relays.

I did... the service manual says if both the switch and motor work replace the houseing... I was hopeing someone here knew some trick but I guess ill have to order it.

do you happen to know the size of the large plastic nut to remove the houseing from the hull? the book says to use a special Sea Doo tool but a socket looks like it will work. it looks to be about a inch and a half or so.

I really don't know what size it is. I once did a gsx ltd that had bad relays, I used 4 automotive relays and rewired it all in to the box however you can use 2 marine tilt relays like outboard motors use, it would require understanding about d c motors reversing polarity to run in different directions , that is all the relays do is reverse polarity.

I had the same problem with my 95XP. Water has got into the rear module and corroded the electronics. The only way to fix this problem is to replace it. The biggest cause of water leakage is from the rubber flexy boot on the tilt control arm. If you have metal worm drive clips, they cut into the boot. When you install another module, use a flexiable sealer on the arm and use nylon clips. Every second Doo owner I have spoken to has had this happen to them. It was a bad design fault on Seadoo's part. The rear plastic nut question?.. Get a length of metal towel rail pipe and squash the ends in four places. (take your time and try it over the nut till you get a snug fit. The nut is only finger tight so not alot of force is needed. Re-seal the nut when you replace it.

you can try some thick wall pvc pipe just a bit smaller than the nut, heat one end till it is soft and press it over the nut , when it is over the nut spray it with a hose and cool it, that should give you a good fit and be enough to unscrew it by drilling a hole in the end of the pipe and inserting a screwdriver like making a spark plug wrench.
