Hey guys, just need some clarification. Ijust bought an 86 Johnson 140 VRO. It will be here Monday. The guy said that he sent the oil tank and hoses with it. My question is, VRO is that oil injection like a Suzuki DT or is it a seperate tank that sits with the gas can?? Not sure how to hook it up. Any help will be greatly apprecaited. What does VRO stand for??

Not sure exactly what it stands for.. you are correct on the tank being seprate.. the line has a quick connect just like the fuel and connects below it at the motor..
the vro pump pumps oil on one side and fuel on the other mixing the two...

hope that helps..

With a VRO could you just run pre mix gas instead of the 2 tanks... or do you have to let the motor mix??

you can pre-mix the gas and oil and go without the oil side of the vro... yiu will have to disconnect the asscoiated wires for the oil side so you don't get the warning horns ....

by the way the tank is not a difficult hook up.... just a quick connect as said before..
the if the VRO pump is good I would use it...
just mark the level on your oil tank and still pre-mix your gas ..
when you are satisfied that you are using oil from the oil tank.. discontinue the mix..

Do I have to do any oil pump priming like on the fuel tank or should I just hookup the oil pull the choke and start it?
Andrew

Oil line needs to be primed and air free up to the inlet on the VRO pump.Mix fuel at 100/1 until you can visually verify that the oil level in reservoir has dropped.

Should you use choke when starting your engine every time, or just use the warm up throttle lever until it idles?

Newbie here, but I just went through this on a 40 hp Evinrude. If the oil line has a lot of air in it, you will need to squeeze the primer bulb lots of times to get the air purged. The service manual I bought for my engine said to squeeze it at least 50 times. Yeah, 50, like 5,0. It didn't take near that many squezzes to get a full flow of oil, though. Just don't think 5 or 10 will do it, cause it might take a lot more. I too, ran a 100:1 mix for the first two 6 gal tanks of fuel to insure the lubrication of the motor. The oil level doesn't go down very fast in the oil tank. The VRO will vary the ratio from 50 to 150 to one. That doesn't use a lot of oil. The marking of the oil tank works quite well.

Charles

VRO- Oil injector for a motor mix of oil injection 2 stroker, top it off with TWCIII ever time, prevent no oil. The motor will mix it for you, use 89 octane fuel, hook up is to oil injector on casing of engine.
